Cases of a (H1N1) - Swine Flu in Bulgaria

There are increasing numbers of confirmed human cases of A (H1N1) - Swine Flu in Bulgaria (source: Bulgarian Ministry of Health). The World Health Organisation (WHO) Pandemic Threat Alert Phase has been raised to Level 6. The WHO website - Swine Flu has further details. You should monitor local media reports for any developments and advice. There is a dedicated "Swine Flu" page on the FCO website. Guidance on Pandemic Flu can be obtained on the UK Department of Health webste.

The Bulgarian authorities have introduced entry screening in the form of thermal scanners at airport terminals. Passengers displaying flu-like symptoms are examined at airport medical points and directed to hospitals as required.

There are no entry/exit screening procedures in place at land or port border checkpoints. Health Certificates are not required.
